The sun loomed over the valley, enlightening it with golden rays. The large male wasn’t wasting his time, he nudged the small female pup forward, he licked her ear playfully, but them pushed her once more. They had to hurry, daylight was slowly slipping away and they still hadn’t eaten. He looked down with worry at the small skinny pup. “Come along, Asper.” He said quietly, using her Latin nickname. He smiled down at the pup that he loved so dearly. Sighing, he walked on, entering the outskirts of the green forest. Eris had gotten used to the life of a loner over the years he had spent alone. The forest was teeming with life, squirrels darted up and down trees, with mouths full of acorns. Birds flew in between the trees, cawing at the newcomer as if welcoming him and the small female pup. He had his mind set on a large hare for the pup and him.
A sharp high pitched sound pierced his thoughts. He turned quickly and pushed the small female pup behind him, she was whinnying with pain. Blinding light started to form, like a ball of pure energy in front of him. Have you ever seen fire consume something? Light consumed the forest in front of him, blinding him. He growled, looking down to keep his eyes from the light. He could hear a small voice, he wasn’t sure if he was dying or the sun was drifting to close to the planet, Rush. He looked back up at the light, squinting so that he could see it properly. A small she-wolf stood in front of him. She was small with a light grey coat. Her age was obvious, she must have been at least ten. The grey that ran down her back had turned dark blue now, it was beautiful. He no longer had to squint, there was not more light, only the wolf. The high pitched sound had slightly faded. He looked back at the pup, she was hiding between his front paws, how she had gotten there, he didn’t remember. The wolf began to speak, her voice was smooth like dripping honey.
“Eris Vita. You have been chosen by myself, the Earth Spirit. You will lead the wolves of my planet to a new millennium. I will give you the gift…of elements. You will be able to create and control my power, Earth. Your daughter, Asper Ventus will inherit that of my brother, Air. You must keep a sharp eye out for the others that I will bestow powers upon.” The wolf stopped herself, waiting for the words to sink in, and pondering for a moment. “You will rule as the first of the Earth Gods and your daughter will be the first of the Air Gods. I know that you won’t disappoint me, I’ve been waiting for you.”
The wolf stopped. She waited for the male to realize what she had told him. Eris looked at her confused, how could he every accept this? “I will always be with you.” She looked at him with almost sad eyes, she knew what he was to face and she wanted to tell him about the future and what would happen, but she knew it was against her vows and her responsibility of holding the future. She nodded and with that, the light slowly was consumed by the night once more. Eris was stunned, he was so confused by this power that had suddenly been bestowed upon him. The darkness was becoming strangely closer now, before the male realized it, he passed out. He managed to looked down at the pup before the darkness overcame him, she lay between his feet, out.
When he finally awoke, he could hear the gentle trickle of a playful stream. He looked around “Where am I?” Then he remembered, it all came back to him, Asper and the light, the beautiful she wolf and the…”honor” she had set upon him. He remembered Asper and sat up, looking around. He hadn’t been here before. The river was flowing, tall grass surrounded it. He was laying by the river, but Asper was no where to be found, a small forest surrounded the high rocks that ended the river as it emptied into a small pool. “Asper! Asper my dear, Asper!” His voice ringed out with panic as he jumped to his feet, ignoring the heavy feeling in his head. “ Asper! Answer me, where are you Asper!” He ran though the forest, to the other side and back again. She was no were to be found. “Father!” Ringed out a small voice. Most certainly, Asper. Eris Vita looked behind him, sitting on a pile of high rocks that surrounded the small pool, was Asper. Eris had never been so happy to see his daughter. He jumped up the pile of rocks, caressing the small pup. “Look what I can do, father.” The small pup turned. She lifted a paw slightly, and a large rock on the other side of the pool, floated up into the sky, twirling as Asper laughed with delight. “Welcome, Eris Vita, to your new home, Heaven.”
It is now year 1200 on Rush and Eris Vita and Asper Ventus, learned to master there skills, there learned that the Spirit had also given them the gift of immortality. I wish I could say they lived happily ever after, but many years of trouble and despair face them. This is the beginning of the reign of gods and magic, now its up to you to complete the story.
